Carl F. Dechant, 74, of Tomah died Wednesday, December 15, 1999 at his home. He was born December 26, 1924 to John and Teresa (Briggeman) Dechant at Cashton. He was united in marriage to Viridiana Schaller on Sept. 6, 1952. She preceded him in death. He married Gertrude Rosenow Martin on December 8, 1979. She also preceded him in death. Prior to his retirement Carl farmed in the town of Ridgeville and Tomah. He also worked as a self-employed trucker and hauled livestock. He was a member of the N.F.O. He was also a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church and a member of the Men’s Club.
He is survived by 2 sons Norman and Norbert, both of Tomah, 1 daughter Lorraine of Brewster, NY, 5 brothers Lawrence (Pat) of Camp Douglas, Robert (JoAnn) and Lamont (Frances) all of Tomah, Donald (Ethel) and Harold (Pat) all of Sparta, 1 sister Leona (William) Draeger of Tomah, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives Viridiana and Gertrude, and two brothers Bernard and Paul.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 20, 1999 at 11:00 A.M. from St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 525 Superior Ave., Tomah. Pastor Donald R. Buch will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Tomah.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 East Monowau St., Tomah on Sunday from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 until 9:00 P.M. and at the church on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until time of the service.
