ANABEL M. POSS, 88, TOMAH,
Passed Away January 3rd, 2006.

Anabel Poss, age 88, of Tomah, Wisconsin, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2006, at the Tomah Memorial Hospital. She was born on January 23, 1917, to John and Whilemina (Korn) Silha in the Portland Township near Cashton.

On July 12, 1947, she was united in marriage to Maurice J. Poss. She attended Vernon County Normal for 1 yr and then the La Crosse Teachers College for three years. She spent her career as an educator and taught for 43 years in the Monroe County Schools and retired in 1983. She was active in the Retired Teachers Association, the Hospital Auxiliary, the Parkway Garden Club, Tomah Women’s Club and St. Loretta’s Guild.

Anabel was a giving person and touched many lives; she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Maurice Poss of Tomah, WI; her children, Fred (Cheryl) Poss of Eau Claire, WI, Lucy (Rick) Meier of McFarland and John (Lori) Poss of Neenah, WI; six grandchildren, Nick (Sara) Poss of Columbus, OH, Cheri Ann Poss of Minneapolis, MN, Emily Mormann of Madison, WI, Kathryn (Kirk) Swenson of Madison, WI, Abigail and Alyssa Poss of Neenah, WI; stepson, Rick Jr. (Kris) Meier of Kewaunee and great granddaughter, Elizabeth Meier; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ernest Silha and two sisters, Maleda Poss and Agnes Peterson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 6, 2006, 11:00 a.m. at the St. Mary of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Very Rev. Steven J. Kachel will officiate. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Tomah. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church with a rosary at 10:30 a.m. at the church.
