40 LBS OF BANANS EQUAL 8 LOAVES OF BANANA BREAD,
1 BIG BANANA MILK SHAKE, 12 PERSONAL EATINGS
AND STILL OVER HALF OF THE BANANAS LEFT.

Elaine Weber, wife of my Brother Carl and my wife Thema pause for a photo
after a busy afternoon making banana bread. Here is the first 8 loaves by the time they finished they had made another 8 loves of bread (a total of 16 loaves) and still had about 20 bananas left for eating.

So you ask: "How did this big project get started? Well here is the story, my Brother Carl and wife Elaine from Racine WI have been visiting us this past week and we have been going over to the new Walmart store on a daily basis to get our daily walking. I generaly do my here at home on Killdeer Ave. but brother Carl uses a walker and so that the Super store is a wonderful place to walk, besides it is also nice and warm.

But getting back to the bananas: Thema and Elaine were over in the grocery dept of the store when they noticed that they had a lot of boxes of bananas for sale at $2.00 a box. So they came over to the part of the store we were in at the time and suggested that we go over and take a look and see what we thought.

Well the box they had sitting out looked plenty ripe but after peering into one of the other boxes it seemed that the bananas although ripe were not overly ripe. So we purchased one of the 40 lb boxes and brought them home.

It was indeed a good buy. We did not need to throw away any bananas and there were only about a cup of waste from all of the others. They are delicious and made into some beautiful and tasty banana breads.

Elaine & Brother Carl took some of the loves of bread back to Racine with them and we will put the remaining in the freezer where we will have a good reserve of banana bread for some months to come.

Some days one just seems to luck out.
